Have you ever visualized a color for a room but when the brush hits the wall, it’s nothing like you pictured?
As an interior designer, I’ve always believed that color is one of the most powerful tools in our arsenal. It has the ability to transform a space, set the mood, and even influence our emotions. The right color choices can make a room feel cozy, vibrant, or serene.
It's so funny, I used to be afraid of color, like I didn't get it. But honestly, the best way to learn is just to dive in.
My own house was where I would test colors out. I would pick a color and go for it! And then realized my bedroom looked like a green screen, yikes!
That’s how I learned that if I pulled down the colorway and looked for tones with gray mixed in, I was able to get the color I wanted to achieve without it feeling overwhelming.
Or, the opposite, if I wanted just a tint of color to the room I would pull up the colorway and do a whitewash (think whitewash green, blue, pink) to give a nod to the color, just as a hint.
